Whilst we wait for the eagerly anticipated automatic update feature for our new suite of server applications, you need to follow an upgrade procedure that is slightly more involved than simply installing over the top of the previous install.
The same process applies to Linux / Windows / OSX. It's just the commands and actions will be slightly different.
Download the update from our website
Stop the application service for example "vsftp" or "Virtual SFTP"
On Linux that will be:
systemctl stop vsftp
On Windows stop the "Virtual SFTP" service in Services Manager.
On OSX use launchctl to stop the service
launchctl stop com.jadaptive.vsftp
Run the uninstaller from the previous install. For Windows and OSX there should be a clear uninstall executable in the installation directory. Just double click to uninstall.
For Linux Debian packages the command will be
dpkg -r vsftp
For RPM packages the command is
rpm -e vsftp
Delete the contents of $INSTALL_DIR/plugins
If you fail to do this you may end up with multiple versions of the product installed.
Execute the download and install over the top of the previous install.
Congratulations! You've upgraded your server. The installer should have started the service again and you can now login to check out the new features.
